City-Builder Kingdoms Reborn Gets New Faction In Upcoming Update

Kingdoms Reborn, the city-builder by developer Earthshine, will release its fourth update next week, on May 19.

The Land Of The Rising Sun will add the Shogunate faction, inspired by Japanese culture, alongside related buildings, resources and new tech in the tech tree.

The new buildings include the Sushi Bar, Sake Brewery, and Green Tea Plantation. New resources include Sake, Green Tea, Ramen, and Sushi.

Kingdoms Reborn tasks you in building a city based on various cultures based on what faction you pick. Currently the game has the Duchies (European), the Emirates (Arabian), the Norsemen (Vikings) and with the upcoming update, the Shogunate.

Citizens of the cities are simulated in that they are born and will grow older and die as well as have children. There is a card system that randomise specific aspects, but you will progress through a tech tree- from the Dark Age to the Industrial Age. The buildings in the city will also upgrade over time to reflect this.

Kingdoms Reborn was released first in Early Access in 2020, and has since sold 300,000 copies. This latest update should bring this city-builder one-step closer to its eventual 1.0 full release.

The game is currently 20% off on Steam as part of TactiCon.

Kingdoms Reborn is currently available on PC as a Steam Early Access title.
