One of Square Enix’s classic JRPGs to have graced the PS1, Chrono Cross, is now available for modern consoles and PC starting today.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition includes the out-of-this-world time-bending adventures of Serge and his over 40 recruitable party members now with enhanced 3D models, slight art and character rework (done by Nobuteru Yuuki who worked on the original release) and other quality-of-life adjustments.
Here’s a list of enhancements that are available in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition:
- 3D models converted to HD*
- Brand new artwork and character redesign by Nobuteru Yuuki*
- Refined background music by Yasunori Mitsuda
- Switch enemy encounters on or off
- Background filter feature*
- Battle enhancement features
- Auto-battle function
- French, Italian, German and Spanish localization now added
- Switch between imitation pixel font and HD font*
- Change screen resolution
(*3D models, illustrations, font and background filter cannot be toggled separately)
Not only that, like many of Square Enix’s remasters these days, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition also brings new content that was never released outside Japan officially. “RADICAL DREAMERS – Le Trésor Interdit-“, a text-adventure first released on Stellaview in 1996 that acts as a prelude to the events of Chrono Cross, is also included in this remastered release.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is now available digitally on PS4, Xbox and Switch, with the PC (Steam) version coming tomorrow, April 8, for Asia.
A physical edition of the Nintendo Switch version will be coming to Southeast Asia, set for release on April 26.
