Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 (Or “IIII”) Announced, Out On October 12th

Foget what you know (about Roman numerals)

If you have been following the rumour mill, the new Call Of Duty for this year is called Black Ops 4. It’s expected, since Activision has confirmed that Treyarch is the developer for this year’s FPS.

What we did not expect was a leak. NBA star James Harden wore a cap that looked similarly to the Black Ops III logo, but it has an extra I. Kotaku then confirmed that their sources say the logo is indeed for Black Ops 4. Or rather, Black Ops IIII. Ergh.

Today, Activision has confirmed the name outright. It is indeed Call Of Duty Black Ops IIII, with the tagline “Forget what you know”. Double ergh.

The tweet below shows a 30-second teaser, with various elements of gameplay, including drones, a potential nuclear strike, RC cars and zombies, being shown.

A proper reveal of the game will be seen on May 17th, just before E3, with a launch date of October 12. This is the second game to come to the lucrative launch window, right behind Red Dead Redemption 2.

Let’s just hope that the many playerbase of this seminal FPS series didn’t forget what they know about the Roman numerals system thanks to this odd naming convention.
