In a sea of city builder games, developer OverSeer Games found an angle to make their game Aquatico unique- set it underwater.
Aquatico is a survival city-builder where you must build on the ocean floor as the Earth’s surface now becomes unlivable. But you’re not just building on the floor, Aquatico lets you build vertical layers for the city. The ones down on the floor are for core infrastructure where mechanised robots can maintain the city operations while the humans live on a layer above in massive domes.
There are biomes, temperature levels and also depth levels of the sea that all will affect how you build your cities. Be wary of the native sea life, as provoking the whales and sharks can cause future problems down the line.
Outside of that, you can also send out drones and submarines to do expeditions, bringing back rewards should they be successful. You might also discover what has led to such circumstances where humans must live in underwater cities.
Whether you can build your very own utopia under the sea remains to be seen, but you probably know that’s a bad idea. Now would you kindly check out the new demo for Aquatico, releasing on October 3 as part of Steam Next Fest?
