Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Looks Like A Spiritual Successor To Jet Set Radio From The Makers Of Lethal League

Team Reptile, of Lethal League fame, teased their new game today. Called Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, it’s a game where you “start your own cypher and dance, paint, trick, face off with the cops and stake your claim to the extrusions and cavities of a sprawling metropolis in an alternate future set to the musical brainwaves of Hideki Naganuma.”

Find graffiti spots and paint them? Play a character in a crew? Grind, slide, jump, trick and airdash as movement options? A soundtrack from the composer that did Jet Set Radio (who the team previously worked with for Lethal League Blaze)?

All of the descriptions from the Steam page leads us, and many others, to believe this is essentially a spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio.

If that’s not enough, just look at it. Look at the 14-seconds teaser trailer:

It’s cool to see the developers taking this turn. Their sprite-based art from Lethal League evolved to a 3D cel-shaded aesthetic ala Guilty Gear Xrd, which leads us to a style reminiscent of Jet Set Radio seen here.

With Sega not having any plans to reviving that IP, we have Bomb Rush Cyberfunk to look forward to, releasing in the future of 2021.
