Two released indie games, the tactical RPG Battle Brothers and the survival horror Darkwood are now published under Hooded Horse. Though only their PC versions are.
It’s a similar arrangement to Mimimi Games’ Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew. The two games on PC will “benefit from dedicated long-term commercial support” as legacy titles under Hooded Horse. No new content, other than the ones outlined by the developers themselves before, will be added with this new publisher support.
The console versions are not part of the arrangement, as both games have specific console-only publishers for them.
Darkwood joining the Hooded Horse stable makes sense as the recently announced sequel, Darkwood 2 will also be published under the indie publisher specialising in strategy and tactical games. The sequel interestingly will see Ice-Pick Lodge, of the Pathologic series fame, follow-up on Acid Wizard Studio’s top-down, atmospheric survival horror roguelike.
Overhype Studio, the team behind Battle Brothers, are working on their next game Menace, also to be published by Hooded Horse.
“We’ve absolutely loved working with these studios; it’s been a joy to partner up on Menace and Darkwood 2,” says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. “We’re so thrilled that they have enjoyed working with us as well and want to continue and deepen that relationship to their past games.”
