Assassin’s Creed Origins takes place in ancient Egypt with a lot of the recreation based on real history. In fact, some of the level designs within the pyramids were based on research that only recently accepted as true within the academic circles.
So the idea of having the world available to explore at your own pace without the combat, is not only novel, but certainly useful as a teaching tool for schools. Hence, the idea of the Discovery Tour was born. It is now available in the latest update of Origins for free.
There are 75 different tours to follow and learn the history of the time and place. There are also 25 different avatars to choose from, so you don’t play as protagonist Bayek and further seperates the mode from all the combat featured in the game. In fact, the Discovery Tour is available as a separate purchase on PC for RM85 on Steam as well as on Uplay.
With games getting better at rendering locations, this could help more people to get interested in history and learn or thing or two. See, video games can be good for you after all.
