Another New Update To The Original Star Wars Battlefront II Is Released

With the release of EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II, you would thought that the original Star Wars Battlefront II, now rechristened as Star Wars Battlefront II (Classic, 2005) would be dead and buried deep.

But no, it got an update a few months back to add in back online play, and today it just got another.

The new update is a minor one, but aims to fix issues regarding online play. Here’s the patch notes:

  • Lobby functionality has been improved
  • Steam usernames should now display correctly
  • Ping calculations are more accurate

The online play is not amazing, but to see it being available again is still a respectable feat. The initial game used Gamespy as its back-end. The service was shut down in 2013, rendering many games’ multiplayer function not working until it is patched to use other services like Steam’s own back-end.
