AMD Ryzen 6000 Series CPUs For Laptops Announced, Includes RDNA 2 Graphics

AMD has revealed the new series of AMD Ryzen CPUs for laptops at CES 2022.

The new AMD Ryzen 6000 Series uses Zen 3+ cores which is much more power-efficient (AMD claims video conferencing uses 40% less power compared to the previous AMD Ryzen 5000 series), but also the fastest (1.3 times faster processing speeds, 2.1 times faster graphics compared to Ryzen 5000).

But what’s really the big selling point is the built-in graphics in these APUs. Ryzen 6000 Series will bring RDNA 2 architecture graphics power for the first time in a mobile processor.

The RDNA 2 graphics chips are the ones powering the PS5 and Xbox Series X, though AMD isn’t sharing how the RDNA 2 graphics in Ryzen 6000 Series fares up to the comparison, only saying that it can “smoothly play the vast majority of PC games in full HD.”

The AMD Ryzen 6000 Series for laptops coming this year comprises of eight variants split into Ryzen 9, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5. The HX-series (AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX, AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX) are the ones with the most optimal performance, followed by the rest of the H-Series, all of which are targeted for gaming. The U-series (AMD Ryzen 7 6800U, AMD Ryzen 5 6600U) are the entry-level ones mostly for everyday-use laptops.

Expect to see laptops from OEMs such as Asus, Dell, and HP to be utilising AMD Ryzen 6000 chips starting this February.
