After So Long, Square Enix Is Going To Patch Steam Version Of Nier Automata

Here’s something some folks on PC have been waiting for years. Square Enix has announced that an “upgrade patch” for the 2017 action-RPG Nier Automata is coming for PC players on Steam and currently in development.

The Nier Automata PC port could have been better in many ways, but for the longest time, we have to turn to modders to make the game more playable on PC. Things like locked 30fps framerates on cutscenes, the mouse cursor re-appearing on the center of the screen even when using a controller and many other odd little quirks should be fixable, but it never did officially.

It wasn’t until the new PC port of Nier Automata to the Microsoft Store, so it can be on Xbox Game Pass For PC, that got this topic back in the spotlight again. The Windows 10 port isn’t perfect, but it does not have many of the same issues the original Steam port suffered.

Square Enix isn’t sharing exactly the fixes that this new patch will entail. But the fact that there is one coming should be something to look forward to. After so long, they’ve finally listened.
