Two things that come up when it comes to Acer’s Predator gaming line: It’s well built and can cost a premium. While Acer has recently launched an affordable gaming laptop, the Aspire VX15, it is still not Predator-branded, which remains a premium experience starting at RM8,000. Until now.
As revealed at Acer’ yearly global press conference yesterday, the Predator Helios 300 positions itself as the cheapest entry in the Predator line. It has all the red and black trimmings, powered by an overclockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050Ti GPU combined with a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 (7700HQ) or i5 processor (7300HQ). Couple that with 16GB of RAM, 1TB HDD and an option of 15.6″or 17″ IPS display, it ticks all the right boxes for a decent mid to high range gaming build. The Helios 300 will incorporate Acer’s Aeroblade 3D fan to ensure optimal cooling. Also, it’s decently sized for a gaming laptop.
The Predator Helios 300 is expected to enter the US market in July with price starting at $1,299 (roughly RM5646.10). Still pricey, but comparing to the rest of the Predator brethren this is the cheapest offering yet. We will see if it’s up to snuff when it reaches Malaysia sometime later this year.
