Acer Unveils New Nitro V 14, V 16 Gaming Laptops

At the next@Acer 2024 event, Acer has revealed a pair of new gaming laptops set to release later this year.

The Acer Nitro V 14 and Nitro V 16 makes their debut. Not to be confused with the Acer Nitro 14 and Nitro 16 ( which just launched this year) or the Nitro V 15 (which was last year’s), these new laptops are firmly designed for mid-range gaming at a relatively reasonable price range.

The Acer Nitro V 14 sports a 14.5-inch display (16:10 aspect ratio is the new normal for laptops these days) and are only speced with AMD Ryzen 8000 series processors. Meanwhile the bigger Acer Nitro V 16 has 16-inch display (also 16:10) and runs on 14th-gen Intel Core processors. At the time of writing, these are the newest set of chips by AMD and Intel respectively.

As for graphics, expect the top variant of a Nitro V 14 to sport an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 while the Nitro V 16 tops at an RTX 4060.

It’s not top of the line, or even threading into the Acer Predator levels of performance, which is actually nice. These laptops clearly are pegged at a more reasonable price aimed for students and professionals who do fancy a bit of gaming on their productivity machine.

The chassis design of the Acer Nitro V 14 and Nitro V 16 are also different to their Nitro 14 and Nitro 16 counterparts. Its less Predator-y and more like an older Nitro laptop with its simple shapes.

Fascinatingly, both the Nitro V 14 and Nitro V 16 features a MUX switch to manually enable or disable the discrete GPU. In other words, there’s an on-off switch for the graphics. Turn it off for longer battery life when in light use and turn it on for full performance when running games or graphics-heavy software.

Of course, the new laptops run on Windows 11.

The Nitro V 14 is available in white, perfect for those who wish for a non-gamer aesthetic in their gaming laptops. The white on blue lighting (no RGB lighting it looks like) looks rather resplendant. But the Nitro V 16 stick it old school with a dark grey over, suprisingly not red but orange, lighting.
