Acer Unveils A Slew Of 4K HDR Predator Gaming Monitors At CES 2020

Acer is expanding its Predator gaming monitor line with some huge screens with 4K and HDR support. Unveiled at CES 2020 are three different Predator monitors, each built for different setups and preferences.

Predator CG552K For TV and console gaming

The Predator CG552K is more of a TV than a gaming monitor with a 55″ 4K screen and an OLED panel. That means it’s perfect for console setups. The CG552K supports variable refresh rate (available on Xbox One and the upcoming Xbox Series X), Nvidia G-sync and Adaptive Sync compatible, 0.5ms response time and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It also has three HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort v1.4 ports, a USB Type C port as well as two USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. It doesn’t end there, the CG552K also has 2 built-in 10W speakers, customisable light strips and a light and proximity sensor that dims the display light or turn the monitor into standby mode when it detects no one is there. Convenient, and slightly creepy.

Predator X38 Curved Gaming Monitor

If curved monitors are what you’re after, Acer revealed the Predator X38. This uses an IPS panel is 37.5″ wide, 2300R curve with a “UWQHD+” (3840 x 1600) resolution. In other words, not quite 3840×2160 4K resolution. It can be overclocked to reach 175 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms G to G response time.

It also has Nvidia G-Sync, VESA DisplayHDR  400 certification, Delta E <1 colour accuracy and 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.

For ports, the X38 has an HDMI 2.0 and a DisplayPort 1.4 port each and 4 USB 3.0 ports . The monitor also includes two 7W speakers.

Predator X32 – 4K and HDR Gaming Monitor

Lastly, if you prefer a regular gaming monitor but demand the very best of screens, there is the Predator X32. As the name implies, it’s a 32″ display, with G-Sync Ultimate Ultimate- tear-free visuals plus a guarantee of 1000 nits brightness and HDR. For the X32, it’s 1400 nits of brightness.

At a refresh rate of 120Hz, the Predator X32 provides up to 178 degrees of viewing angle.

For photo/video editors, the Predator X32 has 10-bit colour and colour accuracy of Delta E <1, covers 99% of the AdobeRGB and 89.5% of the Rec2020 colour gamut. As for ports, it has 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, 1 DisplayPort 1.4 and 4 USB 3.0 ports. It also comes with two 4W stereo speakers.

These slew of monitors is expected to arrive in North America, EMEA region and China in Q2 this year, so it will be a while before these are coming to the market. Pricing wise, the CG552K starts at $2,999 USD (around RM12,320), the X38 at $2,399USD (around RM9,855) and the X32 at $3,599 USD (around RM14,785).
