Acer has announced some new hardware coming soon this year, including three sets of new gaming monitors. These new monitors are the first from Acer to support HDMI 2.1 and can display at 4K resolution at least, making these fit for a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S console.
On the lower-end side we have the Acer Nitro XV282K KV gaming monitor. It has a 4K (3840 x 2160) IPS panel, 100,00,00:1 contrast and covers 90% of the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut. On performance, the XV282K KV can go up to 144Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time, and also has AMD Freesync Premium and Acer HDR 400.
The Nitro XV282K KV has HDMI 2.1 and will include a cable that supports the new port standard. PS5 and Xbox Series X already supports HDMI 2.1 and displays at 4K resolution by standard (the Xbox Series S at 1440p) and can reach 120Hz of refresh rate. So this 28-inch gaming monitor is ready for next-gen consoles.
The other two gaming monitors are from the higher-end Predator brand. Predator XB323QK NV is bigger with a 31.5-inch display size, and trades Freesync for Nvidia G-Sync. It’s a 4K monitor with 144Hz refresh rate with a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.
The Predator XB273U NX may be smaller at 27-inches and only displays 1440p resolution, but the monitor can be overclocked to 275Hz refresh rate and up to 0.5ms response time. The monitor also supports Nvidia G-sync and Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer.
If you’re looking to get a monitor instead of a TV for your new next-gen console (if you can get hold of one with the current limited stocks that is), these new monitors by Acer might be something you might want to take a look at.
The monitors are expected to arrive in China in February this year with North America and EMEA starting in May. We’ll update back when these monitors land in Malaysia.
