At the recent annual Next@Acer event for 2019, Acer has revealed a refresh of its entry-level gaming laptop Nitro 5. And a new entry of the Nitro series, the Nitro 7.
The 2019 Nitro 5 retains the line’s black and red colours but with subtle design changes. A new pattern is spotted on the top while the exhaust grille gets more aggressive lines. The Nitro 5 comes in either 15.6″ or 17.3″ display, but with slimmer bezels than before. It does not seem much but it’s a big improvement from the current Nitro 5.
Meanwhile, the Nitro 7 features a slim 19.9mm chassis with a 15.6″ display with 144Hz refresh rate. The slim look is reminiscent of the new Predator Triton 500, but this is one has numpads.
As for specs, they are still pretty vague. The new Nitro 5 and 7 will feature 9th-generation Intel Cores, which are entirely new for this year.
It will also be using “the latest Nvidia GPUs”. No mention of it being the previous generation of GTX cards (1050,1060,etc.), or the new Nvidia RTX. But since the new Predator Helios was unveiled with the specification of using Nvidia RTX, our money’s on a new, unannounced line of GTX cards. GTX 1660 for laptops have yet to be announced, but it’s more likely it could happen.
Other than that, there is mention of using 2 SSDs in RAID 0 configuration.
The Acer Nitro 7 and Acer Nitro 5 will be available in North America next month starting at $999.99 USD and $799.99 USD respectively. Acer Malaysia also announced that the new Nitro 5 will be arriving here within this month.
