Acer Predator Helios 300 Refresh For 2019 Updates Its Specs, Leaving Behind Red Colour Scheme

At the recent Next@Acer annual press conference, Acer has announced a new Predator gaming laptop in the Helios 700. But it also announced a new refresh for the reliable mid-ranger Helios 300.

The big change here is the colour scheme. The Predator line has been slowly moving away from its initial gamer red and black colour scheme over the years, understandable given that there’s way too many red and black gaming hardware already. But the Helios line retained the red and black, outside of the limited-edition Helios 300 SE. Not anymore.

The move to the new Predator teal blue also brought over a slimmer chassis, with a slimmer bezel. It will be available in both 15.6″ and 17.3″ inch screen with a 144Hz display.

As for the specs, the new 2019 Helios 300 will be equipped with the 9th-gen Intel Core i7 and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (Max-Q) at its highest spec, though there are also options for “the latest Nvidia GeForce GTX GPUs”. It can support up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM and will use two SSDs in RAID 0 config plus a normal hard drive for storage.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is set to release in North America in June starting at $1,199.99 USD (around RM5,000). This should see the new Helios 300 still in place as a budget-friendly gaming laptop. Though with the specs variants available, it could be more than just the reliable mid-ranger of the previous year’s model.
