Publisher 505 Games has announced it has acquired the IP rights to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers from developer Leenzee Games.
The soulslike action-RPG has sold 1 million copies since launch, with a peak concurrent user number of over 130,000 on Steam. The concurrent numbers doesn’t matter much for a single-player only title like Wuchang, the peak concurrent number, according to SteamDB, only occured right at launch before tailing of into the thousands, but nonetheless an impressive stat for a new IP.
The IP acquisition allows 505 Games to perform “long-term franchise development across multiple platforms and potential expansion into additional media formats,” the press release of the announcement reads, as well as “deepening its presence in China.”
Curiously, the press release also states that “the collaboration with Leenzee has been positive and constructive to this day with no outstanding economic disputes between the parties.”
Several reports (here, here and here) stated that developer Leenzee has been dissolved as of this month, through no official announcement of such has been made since. The game hasn’t received any major updates since last November and 505 Games have acquired the IP, but not the development team.
What team that gets to work on the Wuchang IP has some big shoes to fill. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was among the best soulslikes to emerge out of 2025, you can check out our review of the game (based on content seen in the release version) here. The game is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
