4X Game Old World Getting New Expansion, Steam And GOG Release In Q2 2022

Old World, the 4X strategy game by Civilization IV lead designer Soren Johnson, has released in full earlier this year. But it was only on the Epic Games Store.

If you are waiting for the Epic exclusivity to lapse, good news. Old World will be coming to Steam and GOG next year with help from publisher Hooded Horse.

Not only that, but the Steam and GOG release will coincide with the release of a new expansion.

“We’re immensely excited to be working with the legendary Soren Johnson,” said Tim Bender, CEO of publisher Hooded Horse.

Old World has already created waves with fans of the strategy genre, and we’re proud to help Mohawk Games reach a wider audience through Steam and GOG and continue the game’s success via post-release content such as expansion campaigns.”

Developer Mohawk Games self-published Old World, first released in Early Access, as an Epic time-limited exclusive.

A glance of Old World will instantly remind you of Civ, but more like Civ V rather than Civ IV. But it’s not a historical 4X game that spans the entire history of civilisation or humankind. Rather, it focuses on the time period of the ancient and classical eras, featuring empires like the Romans, Egyptians, and Carthaginians.

Not only that, Old World infuses grand strategy (or RPG) elements on its 4X foundations, you have to make decisions from events, as well as building a dynasty of rulers that will continue leading the empire.

Old World will be coming to Steam and GOG in Q2 2022, alongside the new expansion.
