At CES 2023, Acer revealed a slew of new stuff, including the yearly refresh of its gaming laptops. The Acer Nitro series has grown more into a mid-high range these days compared to its affordable mid-range beginnings, and it shows with the slew of upgrades this year’s model is getting.
First, the expected spec changes. The 2023 Acer Nitro laptops will be powered by the latest 13th-gen Intel Core CPUs and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 40 Series. The laptop comes with up to 32GB of DDR5 4800Mhz RAM and up to 2TB of M.2 PCIe Gen 4 storage.
Next are the screen sizes. Gone is the 15.6-inch option as it gets replaced with a 16-inch 16:10 aspect ratio screen. There is still an option for a 17.3-inch 16:9 screen.

As such, the naming conventions have been changed. No more Acer Nitro 5 or Nitro 7 in 2023, as it is now replaced with the Acer Nitro 16 and Acer Nitro 17. The number denotes the screen size.
The whole chassis has also been revamped. No more gamer red is seen at all for the 2023 models. It looks more like a Predator Helios than ever before, but with different branding. And yes the branding is changed too- look at that edgy N logo. The new chassis is compact, thinner and lighter than last year’s. The 2023 Nitro 17 weighs under 3kg.
Cooling-wise, it’s the expected dual-fan setup with four vents, but with the addition of liquid metal thermal grease being used.
The 2023 Acer Nitro laptops will also include Killer DoubleShot Pro and Killer Wi-Fi 6 1650i, two speakers with DTS:X Ultra and support Power Delivery via its 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports.
We’ll have to wait a bit more for exact specs and pricing for Malaysia, but expect to see the 2023 Acer Nitro gaming laptops arriving here after May.
