007: First Light Release Delayed Until May 2026

007: First Light, the James Bond game by IO Interactive, won’t be available on the previously advertised release date as today they announced a delay to the game.

007: First Light is delayed by two months, and will be out on May 27.

“007: First Light is our most ambitious project to date, and the team has been fully focused on delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience, bringing together breathtaking action, globe-trotting, spycraft, gadgets, car chases and more,” the statement on the delay, delivered in a text image reads. “As an independent developer and publisher, this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one.”

Game development progress is going well, the statement attributed to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak reassures, as the extra two months will be used to “further polish and refine the experience.”

007: First Light will see a young James Bond in the early days of his career, who has yet to earn the 00 badge. The game features a star-studded cast, licensed vehicles including Bond’s car brand of choice Aston Martin and some elements one would recognise from the Hitman: World Of Assassination. The Hitman devs have slowly built a sleek espionage game with the rebooted trilogy, a very different tone to the grittier games, and it’s all building up to this: their first attempt in making a James Bond game, one we haven’t seen since 2012 with 007 Legends.

007: First Light will now release on May 27, 2026 for the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
