Winners Of The International 2017 Will Walk Home With More Than $10 Million USD

Each year, The International continues to grow its prize pool thanks to the generous fanbase. Ever since the crowd-sourcing model was introduced it has been successful at breaking the record of biggest prize pool in esports each year and has inspired many other games to follow the same model to support its pro scene.

With The International 2017, the winner of the Dota 2 premier tournament will walk away with at least $10 million USD. That’s roughly RM42,790,000. Of course the team will have to share the prize with its five players, substitutes and coach (if any) but that is still a huge sum of money.

The current total prize pool for The International 2017 is more than $23 million USD. For comparison, last year’s prize pool was $20,770,460 USD with the eventual winners Wings Gaming taking home $9,139,002 USD. Fourth place finisher Fnatic, which had four Malaysians playing with the team, walked home $1,453,932 (RM5,700,000+) richer.

With two more weeks until the sales of Battle Passes is ceased, there’s still enough time for the prize pool to keep increasing. It’s not a big jump from last year’s total, but the number keeps on increasing year by year. You can help contribute to the prize pool by purchasing the Battle Pass, which will net you various cosmetic rewards and even a co-op mode.

The International 2017 will start this weekend. The Group Stage will commence on August 2-5, with the main event taking place from August 7-12.
