An Upin & Ipin video game? True, true, true. Les’ Copaque Production has teamed up with Streamline Studios to create the first console and PC game based on the Malaysia-made animated series.
Les’ Copaque and Streamline Studios, both Malaysian-based companies, will jointly publish the game, now titled Upin & Ipin Universe.
“For years, Upin & Ipin has been about celebrating family, friendship, and community,” said Haji Burhanuddin Md Radzi, Managing Director of Les’ Copaque Production. “This partnership with Streamline Media Group allows us to extend our storytelling into an entirely new medium, giving fans the chance to engage with Upin and Ipin’s world like never before.”

Upin & Ipin Universe is an open world game where players are able to freely explore Kampung Durian Runtuh. Apparently, it’s quite the big village, the open world map teased on the game’s website has it split between 22 regions.
So you can expect a depiction of “authentic Southeast Asian culture and traditions” from the perspective of twin kids playing in their backyard, or rather, their kampung.
Given the nature of the IP, expect a family-friendly experience where players can explore and engage in “a variety of to-be-announced activities”.
Upin & Ipin Universe will also include a new canonical story.
The announcement curiously didn’t come with that much of a look of gameplay for Upin & Ipin Universe. Though off-camera footage has been floating about, and there is a 20-second teaser trailer.
The news of an Upin & Ipin game is technically not new either, with reports from last year expected the game to be already released by now.
But at least the game has a proper name now. And a website.
