Toyota’s latest hot hatch car, the Toyota GR Yaris, is making its presence notable in the video game space. Following this month’s Gran Turismo Sport update, the GR Yaris will make an appearance in WRC 9.
Toyota has been running the Yaris in their WRC appearances, including their 2018 Manufacture’s title win. The GR Yaris road car makes use of the tech and learnings from the rallying endeavours into a high-performance version. And it will come full circle as the GR Yaris Concept is brought back to where it was born with this rally concept car, exclusive to WRC 9.
The Toyota GR Yaris Concept will arrive in December as part of WRC 9’s second free update. (The update arrives later for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S). The update will also add six new special stages to Rally Portugal, a new Citroën C3 WRC livery (Pirelli Tyre Team) and Co-Driver Mode.
Co-Driver Mode is exactly what rally fans would expect. Two players can share a seat, with one being the designated co-driver. The co-driver has to read out the rally pacenotes via integrated voice chat while the drive tries to survive.
WRC 9 is out now for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review of WRC 9 here.
