The Sims 4 Introduces Kits – Even Smaller Paid DLC For Cheaper (Ish)

EA and The Sims team have introduced a new type of paid DLC in The Sims 4: Kits.

For the uninitiated, The Sims 4 DLC comes in three different sizes: small Stuff Pack, mid-sized Game Pack, and the full-blown Expansion Pack. Kits are even smaller than Stuff Packs, with a very specific selection of new items for cheaper (ish).

Kits are priced at RM19 each on Steam, compared to Stuff Packs(RM39), Game Packs (RM79) and Expansion Packs (RM159). It’s also RM19 on PS Store Asia, with the rest of the packs a bit pricier (RM41-RM46, RM84-RM100 and RM158-RM169 respectively).

There are three The Sims 4 Kits now available on PS4, PC (Steam, Origin) and Xbox One. The Throwback Fit Kit features only rad retro clothing for all Sim ages. The Country Kitchen Kit adds Build/Buy kitchens with a more rustic look. And Bust The Dust Kit adds…. a vacuum cleaner. Which actually has some new gameplay thanks to the new mood buffs, rewards, cleanliness aspirations and the introduction of dust bunnies.

The in-game listing offers a full list of Build/Buy and Create-A-Sim content that includes on each DLC. And it’s clear how small these bite-sized DLCs are compared to the RM39 Stuff Packs.

Still, for RM19, these somehow offer even lower value. One of the criticisms The Sims community has for the game they play is how these packs don’t offer the bang-for-buck its price tag suggest.

While the hyper-focus of Kits might be good for those who feel they are getting fluff with their Sims Packs, it’s also not that cheap for the little content it adds. Especially on PC, when there’s an active custom creation (mods) community.

But if you absolutely need a vacuum cleaner for your Sims, well, there is one now.
