The Netherlands Are Back For Civilization VI: Rise And Fall

Another returning civ is revealed to join the Rise and Fall expansion for Civilization VI. The Netherlands made their debut in Civ V’s last expansion, with a trade-focused playstyle. Civ VI will see the civ ruled by Queen Wilhelmina, who ruled the country through both World Wars.

The Netherlands’ strong point this time is on making internal improvements. The Polders this time can be made in sea tiles with enough adjacent land tiles with bonus housing, food and production, making the improvement much less situational. The civ’s unique ability, Grote Rivieren increases adjacency bonuses for campuses, theater squares and industrial zones when built next to rivers, and a culture bomb is triggered when completing a harbour.

Queen Wilhelmina’s unique ability, Radio Oranje, which give loyalty bonuses when running internal trade routes, or extra culture for external trade routes. The unique military unit, De Zeven Provinciën, a very strong warship with increased range and bonus against district defenses.

The Netherlands should thrive in the coastal area and great for island maps with their sea-focused bonuses this time around. Civilization VI: Rise And Fall will be out in February 8, 2018.
