The Malaysia Esports League (MESL) Dota 2 Playoffs Announced, Includes Side Tournaments For Mobile Legends And FIFA 18

The best local Dota teams to compete

It all comes to this. The biggest Dota 2 league Malaysia, the Malaysia Esports League (MESL) has now played out its season and eight teams are now qualified to the playoffs. The playoffs is set to be held at MidValley Exhibition Centre from February 24th- 25th, with RM500,000 prize pool up for grabs.

The eight teams are Geek Fam ( Predator League Asia Pacific champions ), Malaysia Cyber Games 2018 champions Team Highground, Red Bear (formerly CCNC), Fire Dragoon, Team Flash, 818 Esports, Mobile Girls, and Team 5ive. Team 5ive is replacing New Beginning which recently disbanded, and the Malaysia Cyber Games 2018 runners-up were chosen thanks to them gaining the most points throughout the season compared to other third-place finishers in the groups.

Alongside the main event, there will be side tournaments for Mobile Legends and FIFA 18 happening at the venue as well. Registration is still open and can be found here and here.

The MESL has attracted over 600 teams over its course of qualifiers which shortlisted the top 16 teams in Malaysia. Considering the top 8 that reached the playoffs have proven to be successful in other recent tournaments, the MESL has cultivated some good Dota players in its inaugural season. What esports needs right now is stability in the scene, and hopefully the MESL, and other leagues, continues to flourish.
