When it was first announced a few months back, the Acer Predator Helios 300 is poised the sweet spot between the RM3,000-RM4,000 budget gaming laptop and the RM7,000+ premium gaming laptops. Today marks its arrival to the Malaysian market, priced at a cool RM5,999.
What makes the Helios 300 different from the past Predator laptops is its more compact size and slightly weaker internals, which is still a stronger package than the current budget gaming laptop line in the market. Thus, the more affordable pricing.
For Malaysia, it seems we will only get one version which has a 15.6′ screen. Here’s the full specs:

- 6GB DDR4 RAM (upgradable to 16GB)
- 256GB of SSD, 1TB HDD
The Helios 300 will also be using Acer’s patented Aeroblade 3D fan, which features thin metal blades. With two of these cooling the laptop, Acer is claiming it can keep temperatures at the minimal and allowed users to overclock the system with a simple app.
It’s perfect for those who wanted a little bit more power in their gaming laptops but not willing to pay twice the price of a budget one.
From what we’ve seen at the reveal event, it’s a decent piece of hardware though we did not get to see it running at full force. Most of the laptops on display were only running on batteries. So stay tuned for more updates should we get some hands-on with the Predator Helios 300 anytime soon.
