Looks like Google is making some moves in the acquisition department. Indie team Typhoon Studios have been acquired by Stadia Games And Entertainment.
Stadia Games And Entertainment is the first-party publishing and developer studio for Stadia, which currently lacks any first-party exclusive games. Though there is one Stadia-exclusive game, Gylt by Tequila Works, which was published under Stadia Games And Entertainment.
Typhoon Studios is founded by Reid Schneider and Alex Hutchinson. Hutchinson was the creative lead for Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 4.
The studio’s current project, Journey To The Savage Planet, a co-op planet exploration game, is still set to be released on January 28th on PS4, PC and Xbox One. But expect the team to be making Stadia-exclusive games in the near future.
If Google wanted to bolster its first-party studio line-up, they better acquire more, but at least it’s a start.
