Samsung has brought in the latest of the high-end Odyssey gaming monitors to Malaysia. The latest Samsung Odyssey G8 gaming monitor, available in 27-inch and 32-inch variants, don’t come cheap, but it is specced to bring the best performance and visuals for entertainment.
The 27-inch version, the 27” Odyssey G8 G80HF, can either be a 5K (5120 x 2880) 180Hz monitor, or a QHD (2560×1440, 1440p) 360Hz, switchable through Dual Mode. The former for when you want to crank the visual clarity with as many pixels as possible, the latter when you want to game at a more sensible resolution but with increased response through the higher refresh rate.
The bigger (and biggest, as this is the maximum size for conventional monitors) 32-inch version, the 32” Odyssey G8 G80HS, has a biggers resolution. It can either be a 6K (6144 x 3456) 165Hz or a 3K (3072 x 1728) 330Hz display. The latter is a peculiar resolution for a 16:9 monitor, but does have blazing high refresh rates.
The two Samsung Odyssey G8 gaming monitors feature HDR+10 gaming certification, IPS panel, AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync, at least one HDMI 2.1 port, one DisplayPort 2.1 port, and a pivotable stand that can be used for vertical display.
The high-flying specs mean the Samsung Odyssey G8 monitors don’t come cheap. The Odyssey G8 G80HF starts at RM3,799 (with a promo price of RM3,099 from August 1-September 30). The Odyssey G8 G80HS starts at RM6,299 (with a promo price of RM4,699 currently).
