ROG Strix Gaming Laptop Line Gets A 2022 Refresh

ASUS Republic Of Gamers (ROG) has revealed its slate of products for this year at CES 2022. This includes the refresh of its ROG Strix gaming laptop line.

The Strix G15 and G17, the more affordable variants under the Strix family, will come equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. That’s the latest series of CPU and GPU offerings by the respective companies.

The G15 can come in a 1080p, 300 Hz or a 1440p, 165Hz display, whereas the G17 has options for a 1080p, 360 Hz or a1440p, 240 Hz display, each with ridiculously high refresh rates that competitive gamers seek.

Plus, all 2022 ROG Strix laptops support Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos and have 3ms response times and Adaptive-Sync support.

Meanwhile, the higher-end Strix Scar models have liquid metal for cooling, and uses up to a 12th-gen Intel Core i9-12900H CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU. It even has a MUX Switch where you can fully use the GPU power while gaming, and also an expensive piece of tech.

As for displays, the Strix Scar comes in either 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch displays. The 15.6-inch has 1080p, 300 Hz, 1440o 240Hz or 1440p, 165Hz options while the 17.3-inch gets a choice of either 1080p, 360Hz or 1440p, 240Hz.

The Strix Scar also include HDR support, and has Dolby Vision HDR support, plus Adaptive-Sync. It also comes with PCIe 4.0 x4 storage and DDR5 4800 MHz RAM, faster than the usual storage solutions. And will also come with Windows 11 Pro, not just the regular one.

The 2022 ROG Strix G gaming laptops come in various colours. The Strix G can be in the normal Eclipse Grey colour or two other neon trims, Volt Green and Electro Punk.

The “armour caps” (The stylised piece at the back of the laptop that is emblazoned with “ROG”) from the ROG Strix Scar can be changed and customised. (But not the Strix G ones.)

This looks to be the usual gaming laptop refresh. But then again, the ROG gaming laptops have already established their own style apart from the many other OEMs in the market (that underglow RGB lightbar was first seen here).

Expect to see the new 2022 ROG Strix G and Strix Scar gaming laptops to arrive here in Malaysia later this year.
