After some rumours, Rockstar Games have formally announced that they have acquired Ruffian Games. The developer known for making Crackdown 2 (which the original game was created by one of the makers of Grand Theft Auto) will now be known as Rockstar Dundee.
“We are thrilled to have Ruffian join the Rockstar Games family,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games on their press statement. “The Ruffian team are a talented addition to Rockstar’s global studios, and we look forward to working together on future projects.”
Alongside Rockstar North, now there’s two Rockstar Games studios based in Scotland. However, don’t expect to see the studio name taking a lead on any future Rockstar game. Beginning with Red Dead Redemption 2, all of their games are worked on by the many different studios around the world.
