Remedy Cancels Multiplayer Co-Op Game

Remedy announced it has cancelled the development of Codename Kestrel, the co-op multiplayer game.

Codename Kestrel was a reboot of project Vanguard, which restarted development in November 2023. Tencent was co-financing and co-publishing the project.

The cancellation will see the developers on Kestrel to be reassigned to other projects within Remedy, though the developer now has less open positions.

Remedy has other projects that are in the later stages of production, like the remake of Max Payne 1 and 2. And with new multiplayer live service games not being in vogue (or rather, profitable), it’s probably a good call not to go forward with this project.

Remedy’s latest release is Alan Wake 2. Check out our review of that game here.
