Rematch Is Getting A Physical Release This November

Rematch is the latest video game by Sloclap. The indie studio behind the create-a-moveset soulsian action game Absolver and the hit time-loop beat-’em-up Sifu has moved to a new pitch with their latest game is all about the beautiful game of football.

Released earlier this year digitally, Rematch has since accrued over 6 million players across three platforms within three months of release.

Bandai Namco will be publishing the physical copy of Rematch, including here in Asia, available only for the PS5. Rematch Elite Edition comes with all the season 1 content, including the much-requested feature of cross-play.

This is the second retail release Bandai Namco is distributing for a game by publisher Kepler Interactive, the first being this year’s finest RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Rematch is more of an arcade football game than a simulation like EA FC is. The matches come in 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 format, there’s no fouls and offsides, no stoppages and certainly no VAR checks. Just play ball.

Don’t call it FIFA Street though, as you still play on a pitch. Some even refer this game as Rocket League without cars, which is wild considering Rocket League without cars is just a game of football sans all of the strict rules and regulations, but that is an accurate description.

Rematch Elite Edition kicks off on November 14 for the PS5. Rematch is out now on the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
