Reina Rounds Up Tekken 8’s 32 Character Roster At Launch

At the special EVO Tekken Showcase last weekend, the trailer for the final character in the upcoming fighting game Tekken 8 launch roster has been revealed. It’s a new character: Reina.

Unlike fellow newcomers Azucena and Victor Chevalier who are notable for their nationality, Reina makes her impression to Tekken fans in a different way. The Purple Lightning strikes a very familiar playstyle. And her trailer shows a lot of specific banters against the Mishimas, Jin and Kazuya specifically.

Fans have made compilation videos comparing Reina’s and Heihachi’s moves, and it’s clear to see the similarities. Heck, even her win quote is similar.

Reina is apparently a student at the Mishima Polytechnical School, and she likes to fight Jin, as the official blurb goes. But other than that, this mysterious girl can pull of Electric Wind God Fists, headbutts and other moves very similar to one Heihachi Mishima. Heihachi is confirmed to be dead and hence will not appear in Tekken 8 as a playable character, and looking at Reina’s moveset, this is the final nail in the coffin.

Tekken 8 will launch on January 26, 2024 for the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
