PUBG Mobile Version 1.1 Reduces Install Size on Android, Adds Metro Exodus Collab

PUBG Mobile has rolled out its latest update, version 1.1 to all players in Malaysia.

This new version has reduced the install size of the mobile take of the battle royale game, from 1.8GB to a mere 610MB. Players can choose to download a resource package for low-res phones (the smaller one) or the HD resource package. The developers claim that the lightweight install size also reduces lag at the start of a match by 10%.

Other than that, there’s a new mode available on PUBG Mobile: Metro Royale. This is a collab with 4A Games’ 2019 FPS game Metro Exodus.

The mode takes place underground with bandits and mutants roaming around, and there’s new tactical gear from thermal sights to night vision goggles to make use of it. There’s also new grenade attachments for weapons, heavy armour and the Tikhar Rifle- a silent air rifle- added only for this mode.

Version 1.1 of PUBG Mobile also restricts server changes- you can’t switch servers at will. So you have to commit to a server for the next 60 days. There are also a few balance changes as well. This includes a 20% damage reduction of frag grenades, further throwing distances of stun grenades (from 5 to 6.5 meters).
