Double Fine has a history of documenting its game development process, and its upcoming sequel to the cult-hit platformer Psychonauts is no different. Psychonauts 2 was crowdfunded through Fig. As part of that, Double Fine has been releasing Fig updates to the backers. It is also available on their YouTube channel for everyone interested to see.
The new update video has revealed that the game has entered alpha. For the uninitiated, this means that the game is content complete- playable from beginning to end. This is where playtesting, polishing and bug fixing is being done.
The same video also reveals the studio’s reaction to The Game Awards trailer. Apparently, the team has no idea at which part of the show the trailer dropped. But they have been communicating with The Game Awards showrunner Geoff Keighly in the process of submitting their World Premier trailer.
Psychonauts 2 is coming out this year (2019) for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
