The PS5 DualSense controller sounds like an impressive step up with its haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features. But it also looks like a pretty good controller just to use regularly.
And if you like many folks who uses a PS4 controller on PC, good news is that work to get the PS5 controller to work on PC are already undergoing.
A Steam beta client has now rolled out with “initial input support for the PS5 DualSense controller”. This pure inputs, additional features like gyro, trackpad or even simple rumbles are not available yet.
It’s still early days, but you can expect that most games on Steam with gamepad support will pick up on the PS5 controller soon.
You will still need to find other apps to have the PS5 controller compatible with games on the Microsoft Store, which may not support DirectInput controllers like the PS4 and PS5 controller. The PS4 had DS4Windows, but surely as time goes on we’ll see an equivalent for the PS5 DualSense.
