Portal With RTX Launches On December 8 As Free DLC

Portal With RTX, an official DLC/mod for Valve’s Portal developed by Nvidia Lightspeed Studios will launch next week. Just in time to celebrate the puzzle platforming game’s 15th anniversary.

This remaster is a showcase for the new GeForce RTX cards as it supports RTX 40 Series features like DLSS 3. It was also developed using the Nvidia RTX Remix modding platform, which allows modders to rapidly add effects like ray-tracing into PC games running in DirectX9 from the early 2000s.

This is from the same development team that previously made Quake II RTX and Minecraft RTX.

“Updating much-loved games requires a balance of applying new, bleeding-edge techniques, while staying true to the original spirit of the game,” said John Spitzer, head of Lightspeed Studios for Nvidia.

“The experience Nvidia’s Lightspeed Studios gained working on RTX versions of renowned games such as Minecraft and Quake II gave Valve the confidence to entrust us to bring modern graphics techniques to their legendary game, and Nvidia RTX Remix gave us the perfect tool to complete the task.”

Nvidia also released the PC specs requirements for Portal with RTX. You’ll need at least an Nvidia RTX 3060 to run the game at High graphics preset at 1080p 30fps.

Portal With RTX launches on December 8.
