Anthem, EA and Bioware’s take on a looter-shooter RPG, seemed promising. But as everyone found out after its launch, is pretty rough in many ways. Alongside its questionable design choices and trudging loading screens, the game is now suffering a different problem: stability.
On consoles, in particular on PS4, Anthem can crash. And some crashes are worse than the usual blue screen seen, it can turn off the PS4 entirely. Some has reported having their consoles bricked as a result.
Over on Reddit, some players claimed to get refunds for Anthem due to these crashes happening.
EA has responded and are well aware of the issue. A tweet from its support account suggests folks who have experienced these issues to share crash data and reply to its forum thread here.
We’re aware of a crashing issue some of you have been reporting for #AnthemGame. We’re investigating and ask that you share your crash data reports when prompted. If you have, we’ll be reaching out to gather info; if not, please reply to this thread on AHQ:https://t.co/36P21YFjYL

Yikes.
We found Anthem’s gameplay core loop similar to Mass Effect Andromeda and that’s a good thing. But found that there are many technical foibles and not interesting story for a Bioware game may cause issues on release.
Here’s hoping EA and Bioware are on the case on fixing this issue- no one wants a console game to crash, let alone pose a risk to bricking.
