Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open, the upcoming narrative horror game by Malaysian developers Cellar Vault Games and publisher Chorus Worldwide, has a new demo.
And it’s out today, released ahead of Steam Next Fest. You can check it out here.
Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open is the second entry to the Paper Ghost Stories series, featuring a unique Joss-Papercraft aesthetic and centered around ghost stories from Malaysian and Chinese Malaysian culture.
You’ll also see bits of Malaysia being represented as well- new screenshots for Third Eye Open features a corner-lot restaurant, a familiar sighting for local folks, as well as food references (roti bakar was mentioned, and sirap bandung is hinted at).
Third Eye Open will be the first “full-sized” game.
In Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open, players take on the role of Ting, who can see spirits. The branching story (where you make choices) will span over five years of Ting’s childhood where the supernatural is not the only that’s scary.
Previously, Cellar Vault Games released Paper Ghost Stories: 7PM, a “bite-sized” experience of the same vein. If you love that, expect Third Eye Open to be a bigger and more elaborate entry of the series.
Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open is expected to release this summer (Q3 2024) for the PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Switch.
