Overcrowd Is An Upcoming Subway Station Builder/Management Game

Ahh, public transportation. The pack commute in peak hours, the huge transit stations with many amenities. Now what if there’s a game that let you design your own transit station? That’s what Overcrowd is offering.

Described as a “pausable RTS/management sim/base builder”, Overcrowd: A Commute ‘Em Up (hah!) lets you design your own multi-story station for the London Underground subways. You are given a procedurally generated plot of land and from there you have to carve up the terrain and set up all the amenities required in a station, from ticket entries to coffee stands.

But it’s not just about building the fanciest station, there’s a lot of other elements at play. You need to manage the crowdflow, heat is modeled so commuters may get sick when the station’s overcrowding. Criminal activity must be contained and controlled. Staff also has morale that needed to be managed, but you also have direct control of them. Power, water, litter and most importantly, money, must be managed carefully.

It’s an interesting premise. The likes of Two Point Hospital recently bringing back these builder/sim games that are not just about cities. So it’s good to see new takes on this niche.

Overcrowd will enter Early Access soon on Steam with a target release of around 2018-2019.
