The next entry to Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler 0, will be released next month. But you can get your hands on the RPG right now with the launch of a demo.
Revealed during the November 2025 State Of Play Japan broadcast, the demo for Octopath Traveler 0 is now available not just for the PS4 and PS5, but also for the PC (Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The Octopath Traveler 0 demo will also be on Steam, albeit a day later from the time of writing, on November 13.
Progress from the demo can be carried forward to the full game. The demo lets you play through the Prologue as well as Chapter 1 of the Master of Wealth, Master of Power and Master of Fame story arcs, which should add up to about three hours of playtime. Chapter 1 of Kindlers Of The Flame story arc is also available, this is the one with the new Town-Building feature.
Octopath Traveler 0 isn’t a continuation of the first two numbered Octopath Traveler games. Rather, it’s a reimagining of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. Yeah, the mobile game, which also serves as the prequel to the events of the main Octopath Traveler games hence the 0 numbering.
Instead of the eight selectable protagonists where their initials cheekily all spells out Octopath and start at eight different direction of the world map, Octopath Traveler 0 has you create your own protagonist who must restore their hometown and travel across Oresterra.
That being said, Octopath Traveler 0 still retains some of the series’ core features including the HD-2D art style, Path Actions that lets you interact with other characters in unique ways and the Break and Boost battle system.
Also, for fans of Square Enix RPGs, you can claim in-game bonuses in Octopath Traveler 0 if you have save data for the following games (save files from demos also count):

Octopath Traveler 0 will be out on December 4 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
