No Man’s Sky Outlaws Update Lets You Be A Space Pirate

Hello Games has announced another huge update to their space survival game No Man’s Sky. The Outlaws update, Update 3.85, adds a plethora of new features and content all revolving around the fantasy of being a space pirate.

Star Systems across the galaxy can now be under outlaw control. When this happens, the system won’t have Sentinel interceptors. The space stations will also have their own unique technology merchant, a marketplace for contraband items, unique mission agents and more.

Space combat has also been rebalanced, and explosion effects have been overhauled to make dogfighting more satisfying. Also, you can engage in combat within the planetary atmosphere, in other words, air combat on planets.

You can now also recruit your own squadron of pilots to be your wingmen. They can fly in formation with you at any time, and will always warp to your location when you engage in space combat.

Each of the recruitable pilots has skills, traits, and battle stats letting you further customise your squadron.

Also, you can engage in smuggling activities. Purchase contraband goods from an outlaw station and shuttle them to regulated systems for profits. However, system authorities can now scan ships and probe their cargo. So it’s not as easy of a job. There are countermeasures like a Cargo Probe Deflector that you can install. Starships also now have a higher capacity cargo hold.

And lastly, you can’t be a space pirate without capes. And this update adds cloth physics which also means they are now capes you can equip and customise.

There’s a lot more features coming with the No Man’s Sky Outlaws update. You can read the full patch notes here. The update is now live on all platforms.

No Man’s Sky is out now on the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is also available. on Xbox Game Pass (Console, PC).
