A new trailer was revealed at the Future Games Show livestream for the upcoming narrative RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong.
Big Bad Wolf’s latest game is an adventure title where you play as three different vampires investigating a case related to the Boston Camarilla, where you can make use of each of their skills (including vampire abilities) in your investigations.
The new trailer explains how the RPG elements work in Swansong. While it may look and presented like your usual narrative games, Swansong is governed by RPG systems based on the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop games.
Each character has a character sheet, which you can further spend points on to develop them into certain playstyles. Each of the characters you play belongs to a different vampire clan, and as such has access to different vampire abilities.
Not only that, each NPC also has their own character sheet. So choices are not entirely random, even though there are simulated die throws in some of the stat checks. If your character is adept at what they are doing, you’ll likely succeed.
The three playable characters have access to skills- normal human abilities- and disciplines- vampire abilities. Using these are not free, as you require meter for each. Skills use up willpower and discipline increases your hunger for blood.
How the investigation ends will be entirely up to what decisions you have made and how you play the RPG. Swansong will have more than 15 different endings for the main characters and the fate of the Boston Camarilla.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is launching on May 19 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
