No More Heroes III got a trailer at The Game Awards 2019, but you really didn’t know it was right until the end. The abridged version showed a tale of a boy and an alien, with the boy sending the alien back home, E.T.-style.
The twist is, 20 years later, the alien returned with his other alien buddies and they are now superheroes. And by their definition superheroes- killing all life on the planet to conquer it.
The extended trailer builds up the story of Damon and the alien FU- which does have a reference to past No More Heroes side content, with protagonist Travis Touchdown arriving near the end to break the 4th wall. The game is not called “Goddamn Super Hero.”
Travis’ quip implies that there is a galactic superhero ranking, which possibly means that we just saw the lineup of bosses that we need to face, though this is speculation on our part.
It’s been a long silence for the game that was first revealed at E3 2019. But let’s be glad it’s still on track for release.
No More Heroes III will be out in 2020 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
