New Elden Ring Update Buffs Shadow Realm Blessings Scaling

A new minor update to Elden Ring, update 1.12.2, is now live. The update mainly addresses the way the level scaling works for the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion.

With this update, “the first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements” have been increased.

Essentially, the amount of attack power and defense stats you will have, as adjusted Shadow Realm-specific level scaling, has been buffed.

By the second half of the scaling, it becomes more gradual.

The final level of the Blessing enhancements has been slightly increased, giving more reasons to find all the Scadutree Blessings and Revered Ash Urns.

In Shadow Of The Erdtree, players still carry over their level, stats and gear. However, to level the playing field across the many different builds one can have before playing the expansion (from people who just beat Mohg to those that have multiple New Game+ playthroughs already), the player’s attack power and defences have been normalised to a different scale, with the starting level being very weak than a typical level 120-ish character is on the base game.

Players have complained about the DLC’s difficulty, with Steam reviews currently at “Mixed“.

This should alleviate the early game problems, where the game doesn’t do a good enough job of getting players comfortable that they are now in a weakened state and must adjust accordingly.

This disconnect is likely why players find the new DLC difficult- and given this is DLC that can be accessed in the mid-to-late game of the base game for a game filled with punishing encounters with a fanbase familiar with such difficult spikes, that’s something concerning.

Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
