Monster Hunter Wilds Sales Pass 8 Million In Three Days Of Launch

Monster Hunter Wilds sold in the millions on its launch weekend. Capcom announced the latest entry to the much-loved monster hunting action-RPG has sold over eight million copies in 3 days.

This makes Monster Hunter Wilds the fastest-selling Capcom game.

Capcom attributed its efforts in promoting Monster Hunter Wilds globally by attending in game events (they did make an appearance at Gamescom Asia to market to the Southeast Asia market, for example) as well as its online betas and dev livestreams as to why the game has been selling this fast.

On another note, it’s also been impressive that the game had this many players, over a million players were reported to be playing concurrently on Steam at one time during the launch weekend according to SteamDB. And yet there hasn’t been any prevailing network or online issues reported. Monster Hunter Wilds support 100-player lobbies, with cross-play available, and should one choose to, can be played entirely offline.

While the previously Monster Hunter game, Rise, made more modest changes, Wilds brings in major formula shake-ups to the series. From an evolving world with weather and time changes that affect the monsters that appear, to a more engaging storyline.

Just look at how many posts about the Hunter Guild authorising hunts around social media right now, a recurring phrase heard throughout the story and game. Even the official socials are on it. Not even the Monster Hunter movie could pull this off.

With a sale this strong in just a weekend, we can expect the number continues to grow over the following months as more and more curious gamers pick up an oversized weapon to slay or capture big monsters to ensure the preservation of the ecosystem. And the materials to craft sick armour sets.

Monster Hunter Wilds is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
