In conjunction with the upcoming movie release of Spider-Man No Way Home, Insomniac Games has a little surprise. Two new suits inspired by the movie is being added to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as a free update.
You can see the two new suits at a glimpse around the 8-second mark.
That’s Marvel’s Spider-Man PS5, to be precise. Not PS4. The remaster is currently only available as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
There are fans that are excited for the update, though there are also those who questioned why it’s PS5-exclusive and cannot be added to Spider-Man PS4. Insomniac’s response to this is as follows:
“Since it’s 2018 release, we’ve updated Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) 19 times, adding more suits and features than originally planned. Each patch has been more technically complex, especially with maintaining PS4 HDD streaming performance.
“To ensure fans continue enjoying Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) at its optimal performance, we’ve made the difficult decision to release these new suits for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PS5) where our PS5 engine allows us to update the game without jeopardizing player experience.”
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is an unfortunate victim of an early PS5 title. It technically isn’t a cross-gen title (the PS5 remaster is only available by buying the more expensive version of Spider-Man Miles Morales, no free next-gen upgrade from Spider-Man PS4). But is still being perceived to be one, hence the expectation from fans that PS4 versions should get the new update as well.
The new suits are cool new editions for the Marvel game, but is overshadowed by the fact that PS5 (and all next-gen consoles in general) are still a limited commodity that not everyone can experience right now.
The new suits inspired by Spider-Man No Way Home will arrive in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on December 10.
