Some games are just weird, and if you’re into games that feels like it’s out of a fever dream then check out Mama’s Sleeping Angels.
Mama’s Sleeping Angels is a 1-4 player “dream-exploration” game where you literally in the dreams of the titular Mama. It’s a first-person shooter with intentionally crusty “Y2K-inspired” dreamscapes, procedurally generated levels at that too.
The monsters are odd, but at least the arsenal of weaponry which includes sniper rifles, famas’ (the assault rifle), and chainsaws to kill off monsters. When playing with a friend or three, it gets a bit weirder. Kiss your homies to heal them is… understandable. But if they’re down but not out, you just… put them out be decapitating them. They’ll respawn back, but still.
Mama’s Sleeping Angels is outright scary, it’s just… odd. In a curious way.
Mama’s Sleeping Angels is made by a one-person indie dev, Itamu. This isn’t the first time indie publisher Oro Interactive published a one-person game with Ps1-ish graphics (see Easy Delivery Co.) and not the first first-person multiplayer game that one can label as “friend slop” (see Roadside Research)
If Mama’s Sleeping Angels sounds like your friend group’s kind of friend slop, a demo is now available on PC (Steam). The game has no release date yet.
