Mafia: The Old Country, the latest entry to the Mafia series by 2K and developer Hangar 13, is out now.
Mafia: The Old Country takes the series to its historical roots in 1900s Sicily, before the Italian mafia ever emigrated to the United States. The game follows the journey of young Enzo Favara who spent his childhood working in the sulfur mines (he was a minor miner) only to be granted an opportunity to join Don Torrisi’s crime family.
Mafia: The Old Country also takes the series to its own historical roots, as a linear third-person adventure. The original Mafia is more known for its tight, linear storytelling rather than a GTA killer. Mafia III tried to be that open-world crime game, with mixed results.
Given parent company Take-Two Interactive has Grand Theft Auto VI coming soon, this allowed Mafia to go back at doing what it does best, a linear action game. Don’t expect a big, meaty game on this one, but portion size isn’t the only criteria for a game to be good.
Mafia: The Old Country is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
